Public Works

The Public Works Department includes a director and foreman, two inspectors, and 16 crew personnel.  The Department is responsible for maintaining 43 miles of traffic lanes within the corporate limits, 6,780 feet of storm sewer lines, 139 pieces of Town equipment, a cemetery, two public parks, a walking trail, and watering the flower pots on King Street and several flower beds installed by Hometown Strasburg.  Public Works also administers large item pickup (spring), fall leaf pickup, and Christmas tree pickup.

The Department of Public Works maintains and repairs all sanitary sewer and water distribution lines that have been accepted into the Town's system. The sewer system consists of more than 102,000 linear feet of gravity sewer lines, and the water system consists of more than 98,000 linear feet of water main.  The department is also responsible for new service installations, fire hydrant maintenance, and locating water and sewer lines for contractors working in the Town's service area.

The Department also completes street maintenance which includes sign repair, pavement marking, curb painting, pothole filling, shoulder washouts, and snow removal.  Click here for a list of our 2009 projects.

Emergency Contact

For after hour emergency assistance (water main breaks, sewer back-ups, etc.), please call 911.  The on-call crew will be dispatched to the location of the emergency.
